Diagnosis
Harry was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in June 2007. He presented with what we now know were classic symptoms:
- Tiredness and pale skin - Caused by anaemia (reduction in the number of red blood cells)
- Petechial rash and lots of tiny bruises - Casued by a reduction in the number of platelets
- Enlarged liver and Spleen
- Persistent fever and infections
Treatment
The treatment for Leukaemia is very tough and makes me feel quite poorly. The main medicines are steriods and several different types of chemopherapy. The steriods make me hungry and a bit angry. Some of the chemopherapy drugs make me feel sick. The also make me loose my hair and can give me mouth ulcers. If you want to see all of the drugs that I have to take please have a look in the Protocols section.
